Jelly is a quiet soul in Chicago who likes to write and notice the oddities of everyday life. Recent graduate of Dominican University, the past four years have been spent completing a BFA in English under the creative writing track. Visual communication was also explored while completing a minor in Printmaking and Drawing. As an emerging creative in Chicago, the oyster of the storytelling and creative world is being cracked open.

I’m always open to assisting in events or collaborating on a project.

Lead With Curiosity

Approaching a project or submission, I do so with an open mind. Reviewing the work of others requires an awareness of the existing voice and presence. How does the author or speaker interact with the reader?

Tuning Up

Each mark of the pen comes with a purpose. There’s a certain end in sight, and through initial discussion this can be identified. What questions or ideas will be considered?

Asking a Lot of Questions (Yapping)

Spending time together means questions are a ’brewing. We each carry our own experiences and understandings of the world; so, it’s important to recognize different ways we interact with a text/project. There’s room in this town for the both of us, as long as the discussion is interactive.

Reorienting Course

Context behind the work we aim to do is important. Discussion allows all the thoughts and ideas to flow. But, eventually, we can reorient ourselves with a purpose. Who will be seeing/reading this work? How may the connections we’ve made influence the work (things you haven’t considered before)?

Services

Focusing on the writing process, there are different styles of writing that I have experience writing in, which include:

Poetry, Non-Fiction, (Flash) Fiction, Prose, Grant Writing, Research/Academic based writing, Creative Essays, Copy-Writing

Any forms of writing that aren’t listed is due to a lack of exposure or necessity, but I am willing to learn and become accustomed to different styles since there is always variation in the writing business.
